Veterinary Rehabilitation and Conditioning:

Image

Dodgeville Veterinary Service offers veterinary physical rehabilitation that is the first of its kind in Southwest Wisconsin. The goal of physical rehabilitation is to help your pet return to as high a level of physical function as possible. To meet this goal, our trained certified veterinary technician will design a rehabilitation program to meet the specific needs of your pet. Through a combination of therapeutic exercises and modalities (examples: underwater treadmill, e-stim and ultrasound), physical rehabilitation works to decrease pain and restore normal strength and joint range of motion. In most cases, some exercises are taught to the owner so that the rehabilitation program can be enhanced and done more frequently at home.

Conditions Treated: Physical rehabilitation facilitates the recovery of range of motion, strength and endurance in conation such as:

cranial cruciate ligament reconstruction
muscle injuries
intervertebral disc disease/injuries
post fracture recovery
osteoarthritis
amputations

Ferno Aqua Paws Underwater Treadmill System: An underwater treadmill is one way to give pets who may have difficulty walking on land a chance to exercise their muscles and rehabilitate after surgery; the water reduces the amount of weight legs have to bear. Jets of warm water help stimulate blood flow and may reduce pain. By varying the depth of the water, exercises can be progressed from easy non-weight bearing activities to more challenging strengthening exercises that work against the resistance of water.

Our rehabilitation programs are individually designed to meet the unique needs of your pet. Whether your pet is recovering from a surgical procedure, is in need of pain relief, or requires muscular strengthening and cardiovascular conditioning, Dodgeville Veterinary Service is committed to ensuring your pet receives the highest quality care to minimize pain and speed the recovery process.
