Complete Examination:

From the tip of your pet’s nose to the tip of the tail, rest assured that a complete and thorough exam will be performed during your visit. Since we can’t listen to your pet tell us his concerns, we must rely on thoroughly checking each of his/her body systems. Even though your pet may appear to be perfectly healthy, there can be subtle things found on a complete exam that we will look for and can advise you of the next step. Hopefully all will be completely normal!

Vaccination:

Your pet’s health is our first concern. Regular check-ups and vaccinations are needed to aid in giving your pet the best chance of a long and healthy life. We recommend scheduling an appointment within the first few days of owning you new pet. During his/her first visit one of our veterinarians can examine the patient to be sure he/she is in good health and discuss the vaccination schedule that will be best for your new pet. We frequently evaluate risk factors and vaccines available to us to use and will choose your pet’s vaccines based on your pet’s risk factors, the manufacturer’s and the veterinarian’s recommendations.

Treatment and Dental Health:

All of our patients are monitored in our treatment room. We also offer products and treatment for all your pet’s dental needs. WE use only the safest anesthesia, dental tools and techniques when treating your pet. We require preoperative blood work to screen you pet for any health conditions that may cause problems with anesthesia.

HomeAgain Microchip Location Technology :

Every day a beloved family pet is lost. Tragically, most never make it back home because their owners didn’t identify them. The MicroChip is the professional way to identify your pet and is proven safe and effective. A tiny MicroChip that contains a personal identification number distinguishes your pet as a special member of your family. The MicroChip is so tiny that it fits through a hypodermic needle. Just like a vaccination, it is injected under the skin of your pet where it remains safely for life. This inexpensive procedure can be done anytime and protects virtually any pet in your household.

Digital Radiology:

We are setup to perform digital radiographs with the capability of telemedicine through DICOM transfer to specialists. We perform a full array of radiographic studies. We have the capabilities to copy the radiographs to a CD for your files, to show friends on your computer or for a referral clinic (emergency service or specialty).

We also perform radiographs to satisfy the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) requirements to get your pet OFA certified should you desire. If you are a breeder having this procedure done to be sent to OFA and then registered with the AKC you will need to bring the patient’s AKC registration number and the pet needs a microchip or tattoo. X-rays cannot be sent to the OFA until the patient is at least 2 years of age, but we can do preliminary x-rays at any time.

Veterinary Spinal Manipulation:

Animal chiropractic care is a relatively new field for veterinarians.  Dr. Alan Holter successfully completed an intensive 150 hour course offered by Options for Animals in Hillsdale, Il.  This course is offered to both veterinarians and chiropractors.  It not only taught the specific techniques needed to adjust companion animals (dogs, cats, horses) but also how chiropractic care can affect the health of the entire body.  This new offering will expand our ability to prolong a good quality of life in pets that are injured, suffer from chronic neck/back pain or have degenerative joint problems. Incorporating chiropractic care with traditional medicine gives us another tool to ensure the most comprehensive health care for pets.

Acupuncture:

Joseph Burchik, Jr. is a licensed acupuncturist who has an interest in treating animals as well as his usual human clients. While he lived in Colorado he had horses and dogs as his patients. Acupuncture is a great adjunct in the treatment of painful conditions and has been used to treat other health problems as well. Pets tolerate the procedure very well. Sometimes as little as one treatment will alleviate the problem and other times multiple visits may be recommended for maximum effect. Our goal is to provide our patients with another option for the treatment of health concerns.
